I set out to design a layout which could be used for model photography of decal sets produced by Circus City Decals along with testing of equipment and enjoyment of running trains. Below are some work in progress photos and videos of the layout. Enjoy!
Although not prototypical I've included a Micro Engineering single track bridge which uses their 50' kits. I wanted to have this scene in the modules as it will offer some great photo opportunities.
Loosely based off the prototype United Coop the modules will have a pair of large 120' diameter grain bins and a few other kits added to complete this scene.
Just north of the Coop stands the WSOR/ex-CNW Yard office & siding.
WI State HWY 136 enters into downtown Rock Springs and location of the historic 2008 flooding.
Private roadway leading into the quarry which is home of the Pink Lady ballast.
2 track siding with chip loader. Larger ballast rock was loaded on the mainline but not modeled in this scene as it was farther down the line.
The staging yard is 24' long x 20" wide and contains 8 tracks. Track is Atlas code 100 with Peco switches. Above the yard are 2 storage shelf units which are 8' long x 24" tall and have 6 shelves each.
Each end of the staging yard has a 24" radius curve that enters back into the main modules.
